Primule vuole essere un racconto.

È tutto ciò̀ che ci accomuna e a volte ci allontana.
È un dialogo, fatto di fotografia, scrittura e pittura.
Primule è Diane Arbus e Jane Austen.
È fragilità, forza e bellezza.
Vuole essere un racconto fatto di simbologie femminili,
di crepe e macchie, di animo e pelle.
Vuole essere un racconto delicato,
che ti porta a pensare all’infanzia
e
ai fiori che racchiudono il tuo giardino.

 

Primule nasce a Genova, davanti ad una birra e una coca-cola zero, nel 2016 dalle fotografe Silvia Mazzella e Benedetta Boveri. Entrambe indagano sulla figura della donna: dalla sua bellezza incorniciata dai dettagli del viso, dalle crepe del suo corpo e dalla sua fragilità. Il nome Primule nasce dal fiore che sboccia per annunciare la primavera che si collega alla figura della Venere nel Botticelli: Il mantello rosso che porge alla dea è decorato con primule, rose e rametti di mirto. Primule diventa il nome della ricerca che raffigura la nascita della donna, nell’età adulta, quando si mette a confronto con se stessa e il mondo che la circonda. L’intento del progetto è quello di unire due fotografie per creare un percorso sulla donna attraverso vari mezzi come: Fotografia, Pittura, Scrittura.
Due giovani fotografe, due visioni sulla donna a confronto, per creare una suggestiva visione della realtà femminile, con tutte le sue simbologie e caratteristiche.
Primule vuole essere un dialogo aperto al pubblico, un diario d’infanzia, di perdita e di rinascita.
La giovane curatrice Virginia Lupo e Sofia Torre, giornalista freelance, hanno accompagnato Primule con i loro testi. Giovanissime e caparbie hanno interpretato Primule con due stili differenti e coinvolgenti. Da una parte lo spettatore è accompagnato alla visione delle immagini dall’altro è invitato a riflettere su alcuni concetti come nel testo ‘ Il diritto di essere una donna che dà fastidio’ di Sofia Torre.
Per rendere la mostra più dinamica e partecipativa, si è deciso di dedicare uno spazio del progetto alla libera interpretazione. Abbiamo selezionato 9 autori che hanno realizzato la propria visione Primule. Dal dipinto ad olio a quello ad acquarello, dalla fotografia sperimentale alle parole scritte nero su bianco. Ogni mezzo ha lo stesso valore e la stessa valenza. Gli autori hanno affrontato il tema della femminilità, riflettendo sull’identità legata all’eredità famigliare e culturale, al taboo, all’iconografia greca, alle osservazioni più intime che prendono forma in maniera sfrontata, delicata e realistica. Autori: Andy Mcfly, Arianna Maestrale, Caterina Lorenzetti, Caterina Scolari, Chiara De Maria, ERRESULLALUNA+ChuliPaquin, Jessica Morichi, Martina Nai Fovino e Tatiana Minelli.
Durante l’esposizione sarà possibile visionare e acquistare il catalogo Primule in 30 copie limitate e firmate dalle autrici.

It is a dialogue, made of photography, writing and painting.
Primule is Diana Arbus and Jane Austin.
It is fragility, strength and beauty.
It wants to be a story made of female symbols,
of cracks and stains, of soul and skin.
It wants to be a delicate story,
that leads you to think about childhood
and
flowers that enclose your garden.
 
Primule was conceived in Genoa in 2016 by the photographers Silvia Mazzella and Benedetta Boveri. Both investigate the image of woman: from her beauty, framed in the details of her face and by the cracks in her body to her fragility. The title Primule is referred to the flower which blooms announcing the arrival of spring, connected to the figure of Venus in Botticelli:
in the right side of the panting, spring season is approaching on the jagged coast of the island. The red cloak given to the goddess is decorated with primroses, rose and myrtle branches. Primroses becomes the name of the quest that depicts the birth of a woman, in adulthood, when she is confronted with herself and the world around her. The aim of the project is to combine two pictures in order to create a path through various means, such as photography, painting and writing.
Two young photographers, two visions on the woman in comparison, to create a suggestive vision of the female reality, with all its symbols and characteristics. Primule wants to be a dialogue open to the public, a diary of childhood, loss and rebirth.
The young curator Virginia Lupo and freelance journalist Sofia Torre have accompanied Primule with their writing. Young and determined they have interpreted Primule with two different and involving styles. On one hand the viewer is driven to observe the images and on the other
hand he is invited to think about ideas from the text ‘ Il diritto di essere una donna che dà fastidio’ by Sofia Torre.
Primule intends to be a dynamic and participatory exhibition. For this reason we selected 9 under 30 artists. They realised their own visions on Primule. Ranging from oil painting to watercolour, from experimental photography to words put on paper. Every tool has its own importance. The authors dealt with the theme of femininity, reflecting on cultural and family identity, on taboos, on Greek iconography, on intimate visions which take shape in a powerful, gentle and realistic way. Artists: Andy Mcfly, Arianna Maestrale, Caterina Lorenzetti, Caterina Scolari, Chiara De Maria, ERRESULLALUNA+ChuliPaquin, Jessica Morichi, Martina Nai Fovino e Tatiana Minelli.
