The central body of the Palace houses the halls of the Minor and Major Councils, spaces that in Vannone’s 16th-century design represented the heart and compositional center of the building. The halls we see today are those rebuilt after the 1777 fire by architect Simone Cantoni, who also created their famous inverted keel ceilings and the facade overlooking Piazza Matteotti.
