This exhibition is being held to commemorate the centenary of Pasolini’s birth in Bologna in 1922. It takes us along a path of recollection that enables us to explore and gain a closer understanding of the artist and his legacy. Accompanied by the gaze of Pier Paolo Pasolini, we are offered clues but no answers; the goal is to foster a desire for personal knowledge.
His ancient face speaks to us of a personality that is in many ways reserved, shy, distant. But equally it also reveals someone driven by a passionate desire to plunge into the magma of reality, to become both caught up in it and overwhelmed by it – with no holds barred.
The images on display call on us to make an effort to understand the array of people that populated his life. The exhibition seeks not only to recollect Pasolini but also to create an intimate connection between what he left behind and what we are now.
