Starting with a tribute to its three founders (Henri Cartier-Bresson, Rob\u00adert Capa, and David Seymour) and their trips to Italy, the exhibition moves on to a chronological overview of imag\u00ades, through a fascinating intertwining of famous and lesser-known photo\u00adgraphs; world-famous places and lo\u00adcal, ordinary people; and protagonists of Italian social, political and cultural events since the aftermath of WWII up to the present. The exhibition starts at the meeting point between the artistic vocation and reportage, typical of the first half of the 20th century, a jour\u00adney that not only recalls a polyhedric portrait of Italy and of Italian quintes\u00adsence, but also speaks of a fundamen\u00adtal chapter in the history of photogra\u00adphy itself. It is an attempt to \u2013 partially \u2013 order the Italian memory through small and big events, special or contin\u00adgent moments. It is an attempt to read both the history and the present to try to interpret the complex physiognomy of contemporaneity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-c4c41e54-d0b5-4e81-8f77-69c2cc7ef5d9\">Magnum Photos<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-e6e4c08b-c8b3-4a60-9493-c047cd9665b0\">Magnum Photos was born in 1947 in New York: there, on MoMA\u2019s ter\u00adrace, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, David Seymour, George Rodger and William Vandivert officialised its founding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-06885f16-4506-4461-963e-51247bcf4316\">From the very beginning, the funda\u00admental principles of the cooperative agency were the safeguard of copy\u00adright and the respect for creativity. For the first time, negatives remained the property of the photographers, safe from abuses of power by art and news\u00adpaper directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-24b6e71d-c227-47cb-9b03-5430a0ff6fae\">Photographers found a new freedom to act according to their personal styles and interests and saw their authorship being encouraged. Magnum achieved rapid success thanks to these funda\u00admental principles, and in a few years, welcomed numerous and important names in the world of photography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-d7a2c380-4d4c-446c-9f16-a3117109d4a2\">Since its founding, 92 photographers have contributed to the history of Magnum, and today 49 members car\u00adry on its original values, protecting the rights of photojournalists and guaran\u00adteeing respect and honesty towards its audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-4f6eb273-ea89-477b-a3dd-65a30084c52d\">&nbsp;<strong>Opening<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-51c6976e-2ce7-46ef-b055-66ba90c9290a\">Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 2:30-7:30 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-ed2996f8-0ad9-4b70-87c6-e567958cb495\">Friday 2:30-9 pm \/ Saturday and Sunday 11 am-19 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-57e0849c-fe8a-46c2-a155-203d9a1ea647\">Monday closed.
